Get started with a TDI Instructor Course. Starting at the entry levels, you will learn the fundamentals skills, requirements and be evaluated on proper techniques for conducting technical diver courses. As you gain teaching and diving experience, you will qualify to enter higher level instructor programs.

Levels:

TDI Nitrox Instructor: 1 Day

• Pre-requisites:
  • 18 years old and above
  • SDI Open Water Scuba Instructor and above, or equivalent
  • Certified as a nitrox diver
  • Minimum of 10 logged nitrox dives
• During this course you will cover the relevant training materials required in order to conduct presentations and adequately demonstrate and assess practical skills from students in areas such as:
  • Analysing oxygen/nitrogen mixes
  • Developing nitrox teaching presentations 

TDI Advanced Nitrox Instructor: 3 Days

• Pre-requisites:
  • 18 years old and above
  • SDI Open Water Scuba Instructor and above, or equivalent
  • TDI Advanced Nitrox Diver and above, or equivalent
  • Proof of 100 logged dives, including 25 dives on nitrox
  • Must have certified 10 or more students in entry level nitrox
• This course has a combination of both theory and practical elements, throughout the candidate must complete and or demonstrate the following plus many other areas:
  • Demonstrate adequate pre-dive planning
  • Demonstrate proficiency and mastery of all course skills
  • Developing Advanced Nitrox teaching presentations 
  • Shadow and assist in all 4 dives of an Advanced Nitrox course

TDI Decompression Procedures Instructor: 3 Days

• Pre-requisites:
  • 18 years old and above
  • TDI Advanced Nitrox Instructor, or equivalent
  • TDI Decompression Procedures Diver, or equivalent
  • Proof of 150 logged dives
  • Must have certified 10 or more students in SDI Deep and/or TDI Advanced Nitrox 
• This course has a combination of both theory and practical elements, throughout the candidate must complete and or demonstrate the following plus many other areas:
  • Administration procedures
  • Pre-determine depth, time and limits based on dive planning
  • Contingency situations and problem solving
  • Demonstrate emergency procedures
  • Developing Decompression Procedures teaching presentations 

TDI Extended Range Instructor: 3 Days

• Pre-requisites:
  • 21 years old and above
  • TDI Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures Instructor, or equivalent
  • TDI Extended Range Diver, or equivalent
  • Proof of 250 logged dives, including 25 extended range dives
  • Must have certified 10 or more students in TDI Advanced Nitrox and/or TDI Decompression Procedures. A minimum of 5 students must have been TDI Decompression Procedures certifications
• This course has a combination of both theory and practical elements, throughout the candidate must complete and or demonstrate the following plus many other areas:
  • Demonstrate correct navigational techniques
  • Demonstrate proficiency and mastery of all course skills
  • Developing Extended Range teaching presentations 
  • Dive support planning

TDI Trimix Instructor: 3 Days

• Pre-requisites:
  • 21 years old and above
  • TDI Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures Instructor, or equivalent
  • TDI Trimix Diver, or equivalent
  • Proof of 250 logged dives, including a minimum of 20 trimix dives logged outside of training, 10 of which must have been in the last 12 months
  • Must have certified 15 or more students in TDI Advanced Nitrox and/or TDI Decompression Procedures. A minimum of 10 students must have been TDI Decompression Procedures certifications
• This course has a combination of both theory and practical elements, throughout the candidate must complete and or demonstrate the following plus many other areas:
  • Demonstrate proficiency and mastery of all water and land based drills
  • Creating contingency decompression schedules
  • Developing Trimix teaching presentations 
  • Conducting team orientated drills

TDI Advanced Trimix Instructor: 3 Days

• Pre-requisites:
  • 21 years old and above
  • TDI Extended Range Instructor of TDI Trimix Instructor, or equivalent
  • TDI Advanced Trimix Diver, or equivalent
  • Proof of 250 logged dives, including a minimum of 30 trimix dives and 20 deeper than 55 metres
  • Must have certified 10 students in either TDI Extended Range or TDI Trimix, or equivalent to depths of at least 45 metres. OR Assist with at least 2 TDI Advanced Trimix courses taught by an active TDI Advanced Nitrox Instructor and provide a letter of recommendation from the assisted instructor
• This course has a combination of both theory and practical elements, throughout the candidate must complete and or demonstrate the following plus many other areas:
  • Developing Advanced Trimix teaching presentations 
  • Demonstrate adequate pre-dive planning based on student limits, environmental considerations and equipment
  • Demonstrate proficiency and mastery of all skills
  • Demonstrate correct navigational techniques

TDI Advanced Wreck Instructor: 3-4 Days

• Pre-requisites:
  • 21 years old and above
  • TDI Advanced Nitrox Instructor, or equivalent
  • TDI Decompression Procedures and TDI Advanced Wreck Diver, or equivalent
  • Proof of 200 logged dives, including a minimum of 50 wreck dives, with 25 being wreck penetration dives 
  • Must have certified 10 students in SDI Wreck Diver or equivalent
• This course has a combination of both theory and practical elements, throughout the candidate must complete and or demonstrate the following plus many other areas:
  • Contingency planning
  • Penetration lines
  • Adequate pre-dive planning based on gas, experience and decompression limits
  • Demonstrate proficiency and mastery of all skills
  • Developing Advanced Wreck teaching presentations 

TDI CCR Air Diluent Instructor: 3 Days

• Pre-requisites:
  • 21 years old and above
  • TDI unit specific rebreather diver
  • TDI Advanced Nitrox Instructor, or equivalent
  • Proof of 250 logged dives, including a minimum of 100 on nitrox 
  • Provide proof of 100 unit specific closed circuit rebreather logged dives; a minimum 100 hours duration over a minimum of 1 year
  • Assist on at least one complete unit specific user course to the satisfaction of the instructor trainer
  • If the rebreather is a TDI approved Sidemount rebreather, the student must also hold the TDI Sidemount Instructor certification or equivalent
• This course has a combination of both theory and practical elements, throughout the candidate must complete and or demonstrate the following plus many other areas:
  • Electronic system design and maintenance
  • Properly execute break down and care for a rebreather
  • Developing CCR air Diluent teaching presentations 
  • Demonstrate appropriate pre-dive planning limits

TDI CCR Air Diluent (Deco) Instructor: 3 Days

• Pre-requisites:
  • 21 years old and above
  • TDI unit specific rebreather diver
  • TDI Advanced Nitrox Instructor and TDI Decompression Procedures Instructor, or equivalent
  • Proof of 250 logged dives, including a minimum of 100 on nitrox 
  • Provide proof of 100 unit specific closed circuit rebreather logged dives; a minimum 100 hours duration over a minimum of 1 year
  • Assist on at least one complete unit specific user course to the satisfaction of the instructor trainer
  • If the rebreather is a TDI approved Sidemount rebreather, the student must also hold the TDI Sidemount Instructor certification or equivalent
• This course has a combination of both theory and practical elements, throughout the candidate must complete and or demonstrate the following plus many other areas:
  • Emergency procedures
  • Demonstrate correct procedures for drills such as ADV use, bail out and ascent techniques
  • Ability to manage both the CCR and multiple stage cylinders
  • Developing CCR Air Diluent Deco teaching presentations 

TDI CCR Mixed Gas Diluent Instructor: 3 Days

• Pre-requisites:
  • 21 years old and above
  • TDI CCR Air Diluent Decompression Procedures (unit specific) Instructor (or equivalent) with 15 students taught and 1 year teaching experience on the unit specific CCR
  • TDI Open Circuit Trimix Instructor 100 metres full rating or equivalent, with 15 students taught and 1 further year teaching experience of Trimix open circuit. OR – Provide verified proof of 30 logged mixed gas dives on a rebreather with 15 logged dives beyond 65 metres 
• This course has a combination of both theory and practical elements, throughout the candidate must complete and or demonstrate the following plus many other areas:
  • Demonstrate complete system checks and rebreather configuration
  • Demonstrate correct procedures for the following: mouthpiece removal, bail out and ascent techniques plus many others
  • Developing CCR Mixed Gas Air Diluent Deco teaching presentations 
  • Unit cleaning, care and maintenance

TDI Nitrox Gas Blender Instructor: 1 Day

• Pre-requisites:
  • 21 years old and above
  • TDI Nitrox Gas Blender
• During this course you will cover the relevant training materials required in order to conduct presentations and adequately demonstrate and assess practical skills from students in areas such as:
  • O2 Handling
  • Gas production equipment
  • Developing Nitrox Gas Blending teaching presentations 
  • Mixing techniques

TDI Advanced Gas Blender Instructor: 1 Day

• Pre-requisites:
  • 21 years old and above
  • TDI Advanced Gas Blender
  • TDI Nitrox Gas Blender Instructor
• During this course you will cover the relevant training materials required in order to conduct presentations and adequately demonstrate and assess practical skills from students in areas such as:
  • Cylinder handling and sign out process
  • Gasses of diving
  • Developing Advanced Gas Blending teaching presentations
  • Oxygen + Helium analysing
