SDI WRECK DIVER CERTIFICATION

For many, wreck diving is one of the biggest draws to becoming a scuba diver. However, with wreck diving comes a whole host of hazards and unknowns which requires extensive additional training to be able to conduct wreck diving safely.
This course may be taught as a non-penetration, 2 dives required, or as a limited-penetration course, requiring 3 dives. Limited-penetration is defined as a swim through or within the ambient light of entry. Fulfil that inner explorer and come and complete your training on one of the top 5 wrecks in the world – the Zenobia!
The Training
The SDI Wreck Diver Course includes two parts:
- Online learning – once you have signed up for the course, we will provide you a code to sign up for the online learning in advance of your practical training to work through at home. You will then go through key areas in greater detail with your instructor and cover areas such as plus many others:

- Researching wrecks
- Mapping wrecks
- Proper use of lines while wreck diving
- Exploring underwater history
- Open water training – After you have reviewed the key knowledge areas and ready to go you will then join your instructor for 2 open water dives, for the non-penetration course, where you will cover the following plus much more:
- Use of dive lights
- Use of lines on the outside of a wreck
- Charting/mapping a wreck
Or 3 open water dives including the above plus limited penetration training involving the following:

- Use of penetration lines inside the wreck
- Dealing with limited visibility within a wreck
Pre-requisites
- Age: 10 – 14 years for non-penetration course, 15 years and above for limited penetration course
- SDI Open Water Diver and above, or equivalent, from an alternative agency
- Divers must have a deep diver specialty certification or be able to provide proof of experience in order to dive deeper than 18 metres / 60 feet in this course
