SDI DEEP DIVER CERTIFICATION
For those avid explorers, the lure of the deeper dives are a constant draw, whether it be undisturbed shipwrecks, unexplored caves or tropical reef walls.
SDI’s Deep Diver Course is a must for any diver wishing to explore a little more and learn the risks and benefits associated with deep diving. The purpose of this course is to provide the necessary training to plan and execute dives that are beyond the depth range experienced during an SDI Open Water Scuba Diver course, specifically beyond 18 metres/60 feet and to a maximum depth of not greater than 40 metres/130 feet.
The Training
The SDI Deep Course includes two parts:
- Online learning – once you have signed up for the course, we will provide you a code to sign up for the online learning in advance of your practical training to work through at home. You will then go through key areas in greater detail with your instructor and cover areas such as:
- History of dive tables and computers
- Equipment needed for deep diving
- Physics and physiology of deep diving
- Emergency procedures for deep diving and first aid
- Open water training – After you have covered the key knowledge through the online learning, you will then join your instructor for 2 open water dives where you will cover the following plus much more:
- Monitoring reduced no-stop limits and gas supply
- Responding to simulated emergencies
- Set up and use of specific deep diving equipment
What to expect:
After signing up for your course, one of our team will be in contact to send your e-learning information and joining instructions in plenty of time to complete ahead of your practical training.
On the day of the course you will meet us at our centre in Larnaca to sort paperwork and any equipment sizes required. The dives for the course are all conducted on the Zenobia Wreck which sits out the front of your shop only a short boat journey away so not only will you be taking your next training course you will be doing it against a backdrop of one of the most amazing wrecks in the world!
You will start with a briefing from your instructor who will also provide and teach you how to use additional safety equipment used during deep diving. You will then conduct 2 dives completing a variety of skills including dive planning, emergency decompression and use of contingency equipment. In between the dives you will have the chance to relax at our shop with refreshments and go through your theory training with your instructor.
All being well you will be finished somewhere between 2 and 3pm and be certified as a Deep diver!
Training is personal and unique to the individual so we have a maximum of 3 students per instructor in a course with children being given smaller ratios, this allows for 1 to 1 attention, a relaxed pace and a much more enjoyable atmosphere.
