PADI TEC 45

The PADI TEC 45 course is the second part of the full PADI TEC Deep Diver program. You’ll extend your depth limit to 45 metres and learn to plan and execute repetitive decompression dives using a single stage/decompression cylinder. You’ll also make accelerated decompression dives using EANx or pure oxygen. This is a course where you’ll rise to the challenge and make the commitment to become a technical diver. Following this course you will have the toolkit to design complex dive plans with a variety of equipment configurations and gas mixtures, making the most of your dives at any depth above 45 metres. As the recreational divers head up for a safety stop, your possibilities are endless…

Please note this course can be completed in either Sidemount or back mount doubles, if you have no experience in either then we will require you to complete the relevant training in your chosen configuration before starting this course.

The Training

The PADI TEC 45 course includes three parts:

  • Knowledge Development – Once you have signed up for the course we will provide you with a digital CD manual to read and complete the relevant knowledge reviews before your practical training. Your instructor will then review this and go into further detail in the classroom covering topics such as:
    • Accelerated decompression planning using desktop software
    • Procedures for handling 100% oxygen and dive planning
    • Stage preparation and labelling
    • Emergency procedures
  • Confined Water Training – After all the gear set up, it’s time to get wet! Starting in a calm shallow water environment, your instructor will spend time going through emergency shutdown drills, simulated decompression plans and equipment configuration.
  • Open Water Dives – Over the course of 2 days you will then complete 3 additional dives in a 3 tank configuration repeating the skills from confined water to make them fluid whilst progressing to more complex decompression plans. Your qualifying dive will be completed at the Zenobia wreck up to a maximum of 45 metres. You will also cover the following skills and drills within your training:
    • Gas emergency drills
    • Gas switching procedures
    • Accelerated decompression plans and using multi-gas computers
    • Assisting injured divers at depth
