PADI Tec 40

The PADI Tec 40 course is where you transition from recreational scuba diving to technical diving. It's a great place to start because it's the first subdivision of the full PADI Tec Diver course and bridges the gap between no stop diving and full technical deep decompression diving. You gain experience and begin building the knowledge and skills you need to continue your tech diver training. You will qualify to make limited decompression dives to 40 metres.

How do I begin?

You start with the training materials. We will provide you with a PADI Tec Deep Diver Crewpack so you can do all your studying at home before you come to Cyprus.

What's in the course?

PADI Tec 40 course consists of three knowledge development sections, three practical application sessions and four training dives. You'll learn about:

  • Technical diving's risks and responsibilities
  • Technical diving equipment, proper rigging and set up
  • Gas planning, oxygen limits and decompression planning
  • Team diving techniques and emergency procedures, such as dealing with free flows, manifold leaks and out of gas situations

How long does it take?

The PADI Tec 40 course takes 3 days.

What qualifications do I need?

The PADI Advanced Open Water or equivalent is the prerequisite plus 30 logged dives you also need the PADI Enriched Air and Deep Diver certifications or equivalent and have done at least 10 dives to 30m

The minimum age of enrolment on this programme is 18yrs.

You will need a medical statement signed by your doctor within the last 12 months.

What's next?

The PADI Tec Deep manual will cover you up to Tec 50, so why not get some tech diving experience on the Zenobia once you have completed your Tec 40 and then start planning for your Tec 45 and Tec 50 courses.
